Today, the world suffers from severe water problems caused by global changes including population growth, migration and rapid urbanization and climate variability and change.
Solutions need to be found both at local and global levels.
After the World Water Council held the 1st World Water Forum in Morocco in 1997 to discuss serious water issues, Korea is now preparing to hold the 7th World Water Forum in Daegu-Gyeongbuk in 2015.
As the year of 2015 is the target year of the U.N. Millennium Development Goals, the 7th World Water Forum will be an important event where we will evaluate their progress and discuss the post-2015 development agendas that will succeed the current MDGs. The entire world will keep an eye on the outcome of the 7th World Water Forum.
To organize a successful Forum, the Kick-off Meeting will be held in Daegu on May 14th and 15th of 2013 as the first official event in preparation for the 7th World Water Forum. At the Kick-off Meeting, water-related government officials, intergovernmental organizations, NGOs, public and private enterprises, networks and scholars will gather and help determine the agendas that will be discussed for the next 2 years and the way forward. Therefore, we hope to see many participants with devoted interest in people suffering from water challenges, practical expertise and a strong will to solve water problems.
Korea will try its best to provide you with a comfortable and convenient meeting environment as well as an opportunity to experience the industry and culture of Daegu-Gyeongbuk, and the beautiful harmony of Korea’s past and future.
We would like to pique your interest in attending the Kick-off Meeting so that we may create together a new path for human co-existence and a turning point in addressing global water issues.
